PRODUCER

PRODUCTION REEL

I create...lest I wither up and die...

At a very young age, Cindy discovered her love of and the deeper purpose of the arts.  Her days of writing, acting, directing and producing began when she was a just a girl, in her family’s den.  It was there that she would invite the neighborhood to enjoy her earliest plays, poems and variety shows.  Since then, this multi-talent has performed and been involved in a variety of professional productions in film, on television and stage.  A regular on the New York theatre scene, she also toured the country with several productions.

For four years, Cindy has worked as a producer and development executive for The House, Inc. in New York City.  Frequently, she also collaborates with Sunseeker Films in Atlanta, GA.  Most recently, Cindy contributed to the much anticipated TV One series, "Murder in Black and White."  She was also in D.C. for the third season of "Lyric Cafe",  in New Orleans to shoot a documentary and Vegas for a special about Nike's Brand Jordan and the Brand Jordan Team.   Some of her other projects include "Shot Callers", the second season of ESPN's "2 Live Stews", taped in Atlanta and a couple of projects for Time Life.  Airing now on TV One are two shows for which Cindy served as segment producer, “Sharp Talk”, hosted by the Rev. Al Sharpton, and “Full Plate”, featuring women with hectic lives who are challenged in the kitchen.  As a producer and writer, Cindy offers quality programming across genres...from lifestyle to reality to sports.

On camera, Cindy Malika can be seen in the acclaimed short film “Love Aquarium”, which aired on BET J after making the festival rounds.  She is also featured in "Redeemed," the first short film offering from her DraMAma PRODUCTIONS .  In 2004, Cindy founded One Night Stand Theatre through DraMAma PRODUCTIONS to bring artists of different fields together for unique and original collaborative efforts.  Out of that was born “A Sexy Love Fest”, a collection of dramatic poetry and three one-acts.  This theatre piece had a successful run in Hollywood, played Off-Broadway in August of 2004, at the Playwrights Horizons Jay Sharp Theatre and was invited to participate in the annual ROAR Theatre Festival, a Spokenworks production.

As a Staff Director for the Coleman and Smith Artistic Company (COLSAC) on theatre row in Hollywood, she was honored with several awards for her productions, including Best Director.

Cindy hosted a Spokenword night in New Jersey, called “Soul Food,” which provided a platform for some of today’s Def Poetry Jam regulars.  She is also a former Nuyorican Café Slam Winner and was featured on a PBS special about American literacy.

Graduating with a degree in Journalism and Mass Media, Cindy attended Douglass College of Rutgers University on a full scholarship as a (James Dickson) Carr Scholar.
